FAQ - EnvironmentOur FAQ pages provide a list of questions that are frequently posted on our message board. The answer is a summary of the best advice given in response to the question by our members. It is recommended that you consult a variety of experts and resources in order to make an informed decision regarding the care of your conure. What is a safe temperature range for a conure? The temperature in my home drops to 58F at night. Is this OK?Temperatures that are safe and comfortable for you will be safe and comfortable for your conure. The exception is when your conure's health is compromised because of health problems, egg laying, or age (elderly or very young). In those cases, your conure should be kept warm - consult your veterinarian for recommended temperature levels. As long as a conure has a chance to acclimate to changing temperatures as the seasons change, it should be fine. Avoid sudden changes in temperature and keep the cage out of a draft. You can cover your conure's cage at night to avoid drafts. If your home is very cool at night, you can provide a small cage heater for comfort. A heater that has a thermostat to control when it turns on and off is safest. The heater should not be placed too close to the cage or the bird and you must make sure that any electrical cords are protected and not exposed where the bird can chew them.
