Special friend to Cody and Oscar

Buddy

You were a greedy gus  forcing me to eat at arms length.
You showed you had the fiery courage of falcons flowing through your veins as you strutted down my chest to do battle with blanket monster
In the worst of times when you were maddest you never never bit with all your force.
You gave me unconditional love, which I will never forget.

Reggie

November 2005 - July 2006

Go with our love, our friend.

My biggest love, Conrad... lost in May of 2006.

He remains everywhere around me, on me, and I see him still, making my heart jump, fast turn of my head to the spot of yellows, greens, blues, oranges. I remain hopeful, hazily, that I see him again.  I love him so.

Words of Comfort

I give you this one thought to keep,

I am with you still, I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grains,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone,

I am with you still in each new dawn.

- Native American Prayer

The Lost Birds
Their cheerful squawks are far from silenced
They live on in the laughter of those they knew
And the tears we cried upon their departure
Will forever live on in the morning dew
And every gentle kiss behind our ears or on our cheeks
Will forever be immortalized by the sweet summer breeze
We just have to listen and let ourselves feel them
For they are forever with us showing their love
They are on our shoulders even while we mourn them
Comforting us through the times we'd need them most
Waiting for us until we can be there with them
Lending faint caresses and company
Our lost birds protect us from harm while we are living
And lead us to peace when we die

- Steff Kotai

Hope is a thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

- Emily Dickinson
