Bringing Joy to her Flock

By Kathleen C. Gibbs

Mz Frizby is a Nanday conure.  Frizzer, as we call her, is a real joy to have around.  Here is her story:

My husband and I went out to eat with my Mom & Dad for Mothers day. It was really the Friday prior to Mothers day. Since the Buffet was in the same shopping center as the pet store I buy supplies in, we all went in while I picked up some pellets and stuff for our other birds.

This pet store keeps about 8 to 10 birds at any one time mostly smaller to med ones. They have pullout cages that are usually brightly lit.  The top cages are over my head (I'm short) so when I noticed an unlit cage with just a little black  beak against the glass I got curious. The sign said NOT FOR SALE. Well, me being me, I asked about the little bird attached to the beak I could see.

This baby's story was she came to them without toes. The breeder did not take her from the nest fast enough and the daddy bird ate her toes off. They wanted a special home for her home. We all left the store feeling so sad.

Then the next day my husband asked me if I wanted to go visit the store again.  HE I knew what he had in mind. This time the manager was there. We talked for awhile and then she asked if I would like to hold the baby.   She pulled out the cage opened the top and out popped Frizzer. She jumped on me first then went to my husband. The rest is history.

Mz Frizby came home to stay. We have not told her she is not like the other FLOCK members. Her cage is modified for her comfort.  She is a healthy, happy and LOUD bappy.
